Declutter Your Home Daily with These 5 Easy Tips

Woman decluttering her home.As a renter, a cluttered home can result in anxiety and frustration. However, the process of decluttering a home can feel like a permanent battle with your stuff.

Rather than just moving things around, experts recommend following a few precise strategies to help you declutter your home daily. Actually, by adhering to these five simple suggestions, you may just eliminate clutter from your rental home for all time.

Start Small

Trying to declutter your entire house at once is a perfect method to get overwhelmed – and achieve a little progress. Instead, take baby steps. Dedicate 5 or 10 minutes each day and focus on removing clutter from a single area. Within a few days, you will begin to see a real difference in the amount of clutter in your house.

Give Unused Items Away

A lot of us have unused items simply taking up space in our homes and closets. It would be easier if you pick out only one item to give away daily. That might be 365 things in a year! To figure out which clothes to keep and which you could donate, try this easy approach: Place all of your hangers backwards. As you wear each item, turn the hangers back the correct way. After a few months, gather up everything you haven’t worn and donate them.

Use a Trash Bag

The trash bag approach is an option if you’re looking for a more difficult challenge. Obtain a large trash bag and search the house for things you don’t need or use as you implement this technique. Put as much as you can into the bag, then donate or give the items away.

Create a Decluttering Checklist

Decluttering your home is a breeze when you have clearly defined tasks. In addition, you can track your progress by checking off every item as it gets completed. Using a checklist, focus on decluttering a little at a time for just a few minutes daily.

Use the Box Method

Applying the box method is a fast way to declutter an area. Put categories like Keep, Give Away, Trash, or Re-Locate on many containers. Going one room at a time, take each item and place it into one of the boxes. Put every single item is in a box till you’ve finished. After you’ve placed an item in the appropriate box, you must decide whether it’s for donating, re-locating, or throwing away.

Another way to do this is having baskets belonging to each household member. As the baskets are filled, every person must put their items away where they belong each day. In this manner, you can declutter your entire house one box or basket at a time.

If you apply even one decluttering tip at a time, you’ll soon be able to gain control over the clutter in your home and maintain a minimal amount every day.
