Tips for Decluttering your Rental Property

Buda Woman Decluttering WardrobeWhen clutter starts to pile up, eliminating them may seem to be a huge challenge. But if your Buda rental home is starting to flood with clutter, you must address the issue right away. The longer you wait, the more clutter is likely to build up, making decluttering much more challenging!

Rather than trying to declutter your entire house or apartment all at once, try to split up your decluttering into manageable chunks. Irrespective of whether you only have 10 minutes every day, you can start to clear away clutter one step at a time. Like this, you can declutter your way toward having the tidy and organized home you like.

Room by Room

One effective approach to decluttering a rental home is to concentrate on one room at a time. For instance, some professional organizers suggest choosing one room in your house to completely remove clutter. Another tactic is to make separate bins or boxes for items you need to put away, donate, or throw out. Afterward, go through and place each piece of clutter in one of the bins.

Everything that is not in its proper place ought to go in the “put away” bin while tossing out broken items. At that moment, empty each bin by either putting the items away, throwing them out, or donating them to a local thrift shop. In this way, you can swiftly clear off counters, floors, and tabletops and see noticeable improvement immediately.

Keep it Short and Sweet

Another helpful manner to decluttering is to spend just a few minutes at a time decluttering one single space, such as a drawer or cabinet. Using this approach, you first give yourself a time limit, such as 10 minutes. Then, you go through the drawer or cabinet, pulling everything out. Throw away broken or expired items, or donate things you haven’t used in the past year.

It’s always a great move to go through your pantry, and your medicine cabinet at least once a year and remove any expired or unused items. Make sure to properly dispose of expired medications since these cannot just be thrown in the garbage. Countertops are another trouble spot that can be quickly cleared of clutter in just a few minutes.

As soon as you have cleared the space, organize and replace the items you are keeping there. This is a great opportunity to create a system for that spice cabinet or group items in your pantry for easier access. Closets are a major task and can take more than 10 minutes, but a similar systematic approach will work on them, as well. Just make sure you have sufficient boxes or bins handy to gather anything you think that you no longer want and pack up clothing items as you go.

A Place for Everything

Keeping your rental home free of clutter is much easier if everything you own has a proper place. As we put aside things, sometimes we gather things that don’t seem to belong anywhere in the house. However, to keep clutter under control, it’s important to find a permanent home for your belongings and hand back things to their proper place after using them.

If you notice that you have too many things for the available space, it might be time to downsize or simplify. Think about donating unused items to a charity or thrift store. Something else, if weather permits, you could sell some of your additional stuff online or hold a garage sale. Store everything you can’t bear to throw away in clearly labeled plastic tubs or bins. Like this, you can hold your belongings – and your house – clean and organized all the time.
